Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 September 2026. The short version: your texts stay on your device, nothing you say is ever recorded, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
Your texts stay on your device
Everything you paste into Speakbound — your speeches, titles, sections and practice history — is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to us.
There is no cloud sync today. Your texts, sections, practice sessions and scores exist only on your device and on any backup file you export yourself. If sync is added later it will be off unless you turn it on, and this policy will be updated before it ships.
Nothing you say is recorded
When you recite, Speakbound hands the audio to your device's speech recognition to turn what you say into text so it can be compared with your script. No audio recording is created or stored, and no audio is ever sent to Speakbound. The recognized text is used to score you and is not sent to us.
Speakbound requests on-device transcription for every session. Where your device has a local model for your language — the usual case — the audio does not leave the phone at all. Where it does not, your operating system falls back to its own speech service (Apple's or Google's), exactly as it does for keyboard dictation, and Speakbound displays a notice on the recite screen while that is happening so you always know which is in use.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used — for example, how many people finish a study session. These events contain no text, titles, or transcripts. Numbers such as word counts and accuracy are recorded only as broad ranges, never exact values, so they cannot be traced back to you or your content.
What we never do
- We do not show ads, anywhere, on any plan.
- We do not read your device's advertising identifier. On Android the permission that would allow it is removed from the app, and the analytics SDK is configured not to ask for it.
- We do not track you across other apps, and we sell nothing to anyone.
- We do not sell or share your data with data brokers.
Identifiers and purchases
Speakbound creates an anonymous identifier for your device so your settings and any purchase can be recognised. It is not linked to your name or email. Purchases are processed by Apple and Google; we receive confirmation that a purchase is valid, not your payment details.
Children
Speakbound is rated for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Deleting your data
Open Speakbound, go to Settings → Delete all my data. This permanently removes every text, section and practice session from your device, and deletes the anonymous account identifier. It cannot be undone. A backup file you exported yourself is yours and is not touched — delete it from wherever you saved it.
Two things that button cannot reach, and what to do about them. Analytics events already sent are anonymous and not linked to you, so there is nothing there to look up by name; and your purchase record is held by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat, because deleting it would break Restore Purchases. Email support@tapshiftdev.com and we will remove whatever remains.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Because Speakbound stores your content on your device and collects only anonymous analytics, in most cases deleting the app removes everything. Contact us if you need anything more.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
